Health Minister Encourages Civil Servants to Address Emotions and Focus on Tuberculosis Control

Phnom Penh – In a meeting held on the morning of December 20, 2024, with leaders, civil servants, and health workers at the National Center for Tuberculosis and Hansen's Disease Control, Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, emphasized the importance of emotional resilience among civil servants. He urged them to “overcome their emotions and know the path to follow” as they work towards strengthening the organization's future as a specialized lung center.

Minister Chheang Ra expressed gratitude to the civil servants for their dedicated efforts during the COVID-19 outbreak in Cambodia and highlighted the ongoing battle against tuberculosis as a priority for the Royal Government. He underscored the necessity of heightened awareness regarding tuberculosis and the commitment to enhance the center's capabilities.

During the meeting, the Minister urged officials to pursue continuous training, particularly in technical skills, to remain responsive to global health developments. He stressed the need for proper maintenance of hygiene and medical equipment, noting that while the infrastructure is aging, it requires improvements, painting, and repairs for effective use. He also highlighted the importance of correctly managing essential medicines, particularly those for tuberculosis, to ensure adequate usage.

Moreover, Minister Chheang Ra pointed out the significance of conserving resources such as electricity and clean water, advocating for regular monitoring to address any rising cases of concern. The Minister concluded by urging all civil servants and health workers at the national center to foster cooperation, unity, and mutual support to further develop the health sector. He reiterated the goal of achieving universal health coverage, ensuring that no one is left without access to necessary health care services.
